Call for Papers:

The Department of Asian Studies at Palacký University Olomouc is currently
inviting papers for its 12th Annual Conference on Asian Studies (ACAS) to be
held on November 9-10, 2018 in Olomouc, Czech Republic. The general theme this
year is contemporary Japan. We welcome papers exploring the latest
developments in Japanese language, society, literature, media, arts, and other
fields. We hope for a broad range of contributions which will collectively
offer new insights into contemporary Japan - a snapshot of Japan NOW.

We cordially invite researchers, teachers, and postgraduate students to submit
their proposals for individual presentations as well as special panels on a
particular theme. The individual presentations should not exceed 20 minutes.
Additional 10 minutes are planned for questions and discussion. The panels may
include three or four topically related presentations and take up to 90
minutes, including the discussion. The language of the conference is English.

The proposals should be submitted in the form of abstracts (max. 300 words,
including references) as a PDF or DOC(X) file to acas at upol.cz by June 17,
2018. The document must include the title of the presentation and, in case of
panel proposals, also the title of the panel. The abstracts must be anonymous
and references to own work should thus be made in the third person. In the
body of your e-mail, please indicate your full name, title, and affiliation.
Decisions on the abstracts will be sent by July 15, 2018.

The conference fee is 50 EUR / 1250 CZK. All presenters must register by
September 9, 2018.

Any questions can be addressed to acas at upol.cz.

We look forward to your proposals.
