Meeting Description:

On the occasion of the presentation of the new Biblias Hispánicas corpus,
developed within a project funded by the BBVA Foundation program for Digital
Humanities, the Biblia Medieval  group at the University of the Balearic
Islands (www.bibliamedieval.es) organizes a Conference to share the latest
developments in the field of Medieval and Renaissance translations of the
Bible into the Ibero-Romance vernaculars. The new corpus features all the
Spanish biblical translations composed during the Middle Ages and the
sixteenth century, with normalized spelling, lemmatization and POS tagging.


Call for Papers:

We invite paper proposals (20 minutes presentation + 10 minutes debate) on any
aspect related to Medieval and Renaissance translations of the Bible into
Ibero-Romance vernaculars. Anonymized abstracts, with a maximum length of 300
words, are to be sent to bibliashispanicas at gmail.com with indication of
author, affiliation and title of the paper in the body of the email. Abstracts
may be written in any Ibero-Romance language or English, and will be reviewed
by the members of the scientific committee. The deadline for submission of
abstracts is May 31. Acceptance will be notified by email before June 30.

Papers should preferably address any of the following topics:

- Medieval and Renaissance translations of the Bible into Ibero-Romance
vernaculars
- Sephardic Bibles
- Bibles of the Reformation in Ibero-Romance
- New manuscripts and fragments
- Influence of biblical exegesis in translations
- Linguistic studies based on biblical texts
- Editing issues
