Description:

The Department of Spanish is part of the School of Languages and Translation
Studies. The School is an active, diverse and international centre for
teaching and research on languages studies. The areas of strength of the
Department of Spanish are contact linguistics, sociolinguistics, linguistic
variation, applied linguistics, including teaching Spanish as a foreign
language, and translation studies.

The position of University Teacher/University Lecturer includes teaching in
the field of Spanish studies and thesis supervision. The duties in the open
position include teaching in basic, intermediate and advanced level studies,
participating in student admissions, developing the studies, and
administrative duties, as well as conducting independent scientific research.

The eligibility criteria for a University lecturer are defined in the rules of
procedure of the University of Turku.

In accordance with the university research career model, the position of
University Teacher is a second stage career position. Successful performance
in the post of University Teacher requires an applicable higher university
degree, good teaching skills, excellent proficiency in Spanish, the ability to
supervise theses and to give high-quality research-based teaching, experience
in university level teaching of Spanish, and good interaction skills. When
assessing the merits of the applicants for the post, an extensive competence
in the field in question, teaching experience, pedagogical education, other
teaching merits, ability to produce study materials and to provide versatile
teaching and scientific work, shall be taken into account.

In accordance with the university research career model, the position of
University Lecturer is a third stage career position. Successful performance
in the post of University Lecturer requires an appropriate doctoral degree (a
degree in teaching and learning of Spanish in particular would be an
advantage), the ability to supervise theses and to give high-quality
research-based teaching, excellent proficiency in Spanish, experience in
university level teaching of Spanish and good interaction skills. When
assessing the merits of the applicants for the post, scientific work,
expertise in the field, teaching experience and pedagogical education, ability
to produce study materials and other teaching merits shall be taken into
account.
