Description:

Within the Philadelphia region's only public doctoral university, Temple's
Department of Spanish and Portuguese offers graduate fellowships or teaching
assistantships for students admitted to the Ph.D. program in Hispanic
Linguistics. Doctoral students develop interdisciplinary expertise in areas
such as Spanish applied linguistics (e.g., second and heritage language
acquisition) and sociolinguistics (e.g., creole languages, language contact).
The awards include full tuition remission, medical coverage and a stipend of
$17,784-$29,000 per year for at least four years, depending on qualifications.
Award recipients will teach undergraduate language courses that provide
excellent training for academic careers.

The minimum application requirements are: 
- An undergraduate degree in hand before the beginning of the 2019-2020
academic year; 
- Submission of a complete application by January 15, 2019; 
- Test scores from either the GRE or EXADEP exams; and 
- High fluency in English and either Spanish or Portuguese. 
- Applicants from outside the US should also submit scores from the TOEFL,
IELTS, or PTE Academic exams. 

We will consider any applicant who meets these criteria and wishes to pursue
advanced studies in Hispanic Linguistics; a prior degree in Spanish or
Linguistics is not required. As a department and a university, we are
