About the opportunity :
Established in 1975, our Linguistics department has teaching and research
strengths in field work, grammar-writing, syntactic theory, functional
grammar, areal and historical linguistics, linguistic anthropology, analysis
of media discourse, applied linguistics, corpus linguistics, and TESOL. 

We have affiliations with colleagues in a wide range of language programs, the
Pacific and Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures
(PARADISEC) and numerous other departments and schools across the Faculty of
Arts and Social Sciences and the University. Members of the Department are
active in a wide variety of cross-faculty research collaborations. A new
Sydney Centre for Language Research has just been founded to bring together
linguists and other scholars across the University

The department is currently in a new phase of revitalisation, with an
increased capacity and international research profile through the recent
recruitment of additional academic staff. 

In this exciting lectureship opportunity you will:
- Teach and develop curriculum across a range of areas of linguistics
- Contribute to the teaching of the Master of Applied and Crosscultural
Linguistics
- Make an important contribution to the research strengths of the School,
including publication in quality outlets
- Participate in the Sydney Centre for Language Research
- Supervise research or coursework students

About you:
We are looking for a Lecturer in Linguistics who possesses:
- A PhD in Linguistics
- The ability to teach widely across the linguistics curriculum, in
undergraduate and postgraduate programs 
- A demonstrated capacity for excellence in teaching 
- A demonstrated research track record in one or more of the following areas
of expertise: descriptive linguistics, linguistic anthropology,
sociolinguistics, functional linguistics, applied and/or crosscultural
linguistics
- Evidence of capacity to undertake academic administrative responsibilities
