Meeting Description:

The Virginia Area Linguistics (VALING) Colloquium is an undergraduate research
conference dedicated to promoting the study of linguistics by undergraduates
in Virginia and the greater Mid-Atlantic area by sharing exemplary
undergraduate research and fostering a dialogue between students of
linguistics and other language-related topics across various institutions.
Research across any linguistic discipline is welcome, including: phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, field work,
sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, language acquisition, etc. We hope to
have a wide range of different linguistics topics represented.

We are currently accepting general submissions for oral and poster
presentations at the inaugural Virginia Area Undergraduate Linguistics
Colloquium (VALING), which will be held on April 13, 2019 at the College of
William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.

Matthew Lowder (University of Richmond)


Call for Papers:

We are pleased to accept papers for the first annual Virginia Area
Undergraduate Linguistics Colloquium (VALING), which will be held on April 13,
2019 at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. The event will
consist of both oral and poster presentations. Oral presentations will be 20
minutes with 5 minutes for questions afterwards. Poster presentations will
occur simultaneously during a morning session.

Abstract submission: If you are interested in participating, please prepare an
abstract following these general guidelines: 500 words, minimum 11 point font,
Arial font, single spaced, with a second page for graphs, figures and
references. Examples should be interspersed in the text. Abstracts may be
submitted by emailing them in PDF form to VALING_.m62nb79kbqteuzlr at u.box.com
using the following naming convention:
“yourlastname_yourinstitution_VALING.pdf” (for example:
“Harrigan_WilliamandMary_VALING.pdf”).

The deadline for abstract submission is February 18, 2019 at 11:59pm EST.
