Meeting Description: 

The conference aims at promoting the interest in cognitive linguistics and its
applications in the linguistic scholarship at universities and academic
institutions. This is considered a pioneering step in this area, and it
contributes to the development of the following scientific priorities:

1. Cognitive linguistic scholarship in the academic institutions in the Arab
world.
2. Language acquisition skills and methods of Language teaching and learning
for the non-native speakers of Arabic. 
3. Methods of research in discourse analysis.
4. Computerization of Arabic language in its several disciplines:
lexicography, grammar, syntax, morphology, phonetics, and semantics.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and will
take place at Al al-Bayt University-Jordan.

Conference Topics and Themes:

1. The historical accounts for the establishment of cognitive linguistics and
the arguments on linguistic trends.
2. The theoretical framework of cognitive linguistics.
3. The relationship between cognitive linguistics and other cognitive
disciplines.
4. Cognitive linguistics in Arabic scholarship: translation, reception, and
resourceful contribution.
5. Applied research in cognitive linguistics: language learning and
acquisition, discourse analysis, computerization,… etc.
