Call Deadline: 12-Feb-2019

Meeting Description:

This one-day symposium aims to encourage dialogue across disciplines about the
importance of a multimodal paradigm for investigating the media.

The day consists of two keynote talks, three practical workshops, lightning
talks and poster presentations. Our confirmed speakers are: Dr Tuomo Hiippala,
Professor Carey Jewitt, Mr Aneurin (Nye) Wright and Dr Sumin Zhao.
Postgraduate students and researchers from a wide range of fields, including
but not limited to linguistics, education, media and communication studies,
film studies, drama and literary studies, should be interested in this
symposium.

Meanwhile, you are also very welcome even if you have yet to draw on
multimodality theories in your work, but are simply curious about “reading
beyond words” – how meanings can be constructed multimodally in various types
of media. More information about the symposium can be found on the symposium
website: https://amim2019.wixsite.com/amim2019. If you have any queries,
please contact the organizing team at lpc.qmul at gmail.com.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Call for Papers:

topic and context relevant to multimodality in the media across disciplines,
including but NOT limited to linguistics, education, media and communication
studies, film studies, drama and literary studies.
