Meeting Description:

English Pronunciation: Issues & Practices (EPIP) is a biannual scientific
conference that brings together researchers and teachers of English,
phonetics, phonology, SLA and EFL/ESL interested in the issues relevant to
English pronunciation, both native and non-native.

We are pleased to announce that the 6th International Conference on English
Pronunciation: Issues & Practices is taking place in Skopje, Macedonia
following previous meetings in Caen, France (2017), Prague, Czech Republic
(2015) Murcia, Spain (2013), Grahamstown, South Africa (2011) and Chambéry,
France (2009).

Keynote speakers: 

John Levis (Iowa State University, USA) 
Pamela Rogerson-Revell (University of Leicester, UK) 
Kazuya Saito (University College London, UK) 
Tanja Angelovska (University of Salzburg, Austria)


2nd Call for Papers: 
(due to increased interest)

The Organizing committee welcomes proposals on various aspects of research
into English pronunciation including (but not limited to) the following
topics: 

- L2 pronunciation research: methodology and application 
- Contrastive studies: interaction between L1 and L2 sound systems 
- Phonological change 
- Norms and reference accents 
- Native and non-native accents of English (acquisition, variability, etc.) 
- Sociolinguistic aspects of accented speech and issues of identity 
- Pedagogical implications of pronunciation research (goals, teaching methods,
assessment, etc.) 
- Teaching pronunciation (teacher training, teachers’ views and beliefs, etc.)
- Information and communication technology (ICT) in pronunciation
teaching/learning (e-learning, M-learning, software tools, etc.) 
- Interdisciplinary approaches to ESL/EFL research 
- Analyses of national or regional language policy 

Proposals presenting original, previously unpublished research are invited in
these formats (please specify your preferred format in the abstract):

- oral presentation (total 30 min, 20 min presentation + 10 min discussion) 
- poster presentation (open session) 

The following information should be included in the proposal: 

- Name of author(s) 
- Affiliation (for each author if more than one) 
- Contact email (for each author if more than one) 
- Presentation format: oral or poster (please specify) 
- Title of presentation/poster 
- Abstract (400-500 words excluding references) 
- Keywords (up to 5 keywords) 
- References (please use APA style) 

The abstract should reflect the purpose and the content of the presentation.
It should make reference to a theoretical framework and show awareness of
previous research in the area. It should also contain a clear description of
the research methodology employed and the most important findings and
implications. 

Each person may submit no more than one abstract as the first author. The
first author will have to register for the conference in order to be assured
of a place on the programme. Doctoral students currently pursuing a PhD degree
or who have just earned their degree are encouraged to submit an abstract
related to their research in order to compete for the Best PhD presentation
award honouring Dr. Alexander Kautzsch. For this award, students can submit
proposals on any topic listed above, even if it is not closely related to Dr.
Kautzsch’s research interests. 

The deadline extension for abstract submission is January 4, 2019. Please
include your name and surname in the document file name (e.g.
Name_Surname_epip2019.docx) and send it to epip2019 at gmail.com 

The abstracts will undergo an anonymous peer-review process. The authors will
receive notification of acceptance by January 20, 2019. Registration opens
February 1, 2019.
