Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Seoul National University invites
applications for a tenure-track (open rank) position in Historical
Linguistics, beginning Fall 2018. The desired primary specialization is in
historical linguistics. Desirable secondary specializations include language
typology, documentation, and variation. More preference will be given to
candidates who has worked with quantitative methods in the above fields. The
candidate will have a strong theoretical background and demonstrated
commitment to scholarly research and excellence in teaching. 

Basic Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in linguistics in-hand by the time of
application. The candidate will be expected to contribute a variety of courses
including language change, typology, and documentation from undergraduate
level to doctoral seminars.

Review of applications will begin immediately. Applications received by March
1, 2018 will be given full consideration. Position is open until filled; no
application materials will be accepted after April 15, 2018. Candidates should
send their applications, including a CV and samples of publications or other
written work to the email address listed below.  A minimum of three names of
reference are to be included in the cover letter. 

Salary and conditions will conform to Seoul National University regulations.
Appointment procedures will be carried out according to the rules and
regulations of Seoul National University and are subject to the approval of
the University.
