New Program Announcement: MA in Language Teaching Studies (LTS) in the
Department of Linguistics at the University of Oregon, USA.

This program was previously a Language Teaching Specialization track in the
Linguistics MA degree.

The Language Teaching Studies (LTS) Masters of Arts program in the Department
of Linguistics is a 15-month intensive, terminal degree MA program for
language teachers and curriculum developers. The first summer term is offered
entirely online, while the remaining courses are offered on campus in Eugene,
Oregon. Although our priority deadline has passed, we have rolling admissions
and encourage interested individuals to apply.

This unique MA program provides a foundation in the principles of second
language acquisition, pedagogy, curriculum design, materials development,
digital and online instruction, and assessment while allowing specialization
in teaching one or more languages. Many students specialize in teaching
English, or in English and an additional language, but a sizable number focus
only on a language other than English, including Japanese, Spanish, Korean,
Chinese, Arabic, Turkish, Thai, and several Native American languages of the
Northwest. LTS alumni have been very successful in finding teaching or
curriculum development positions working with adults and children in private
or public schools, institutions, colleges, or universities in the US or
abroad.

LTS fosters a close cohort dynamic in which students benefit from the
linguistic and national diversity of its members. Coursework and a variety of
practicum opportunities culminate in a substantial applied MA Project. LTS
also provides support in applying for positions after graduation. In terms of
quality of life, students are able to enjoy the beautiful landscape and
outdoor activities year-round that the State of Oregon is known for.

To read more about the program, faculty, alumni, recent events, and
application information, see our website (lts.uoregon.edu) blog
(blogs.uoregon.edu/linglts), and Twitter (@LanguageTeachMA) and Facebook
(@LTSProgram) pages.

For questions about the program, contact Dr. Trish Pashby, Interim LTS
Director, pashby at uoregon.edu
For questions about admissions, contact Anna Hults, ahults at uoregon.edu
