Description:

The Speech Perception & Production Laboratory at the University of Oregon is
seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Scholar. The researcher will work with
Dr. Melissa Baese-Berk in the new Spoken Language Research Laboratories
facilities on an NSF-funded project on the relationship between speech
perception and production. The researcher will work on a number of ongoing
projects under this grant. 

Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing written and oral presentations of the research for journal
articles and conference presentations; 
- Overseeing data collection and analysis for ongoing projects in the lab;
- Spearheading new projects under the grant; and
- Supervising undergraduate and graduate researchers working on the project.

There will be ample opportunity and encouragement to participate in the wider
intellectual community at the University of Oregon, including colloquia hosted
by the Department of Linguistics, the Department of Psychology, and the
Institute of Neuroscience.

The faculty in the Spoken Language Research Laboratories in the Department of
Linguistics at the University of Oregon areas of expertise are in child
language, bilingualism, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics. We also have
strong ties with faculty in Psychology, particularly in the areas of
developmental psychology and cognitive neuroscience. In addition to spoken
language research, the Department of Linguistics has significant strengths in
historical linguistics and fieldwork.

The position will begin in Fall of 2018 and is for one year, with an option to
renew the position for a second year. Review of applications will begin on
March 15th and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Linguistics, Psychology, or Speech & Hearing Sciences.

- Expertise and a strong interest in second language acquisition and/or
psycholinguistic theory and methodology.
