Subject: Request Classification

Hi,

I am working on the analysis of a big set of data on naturally-occurring
requests in Turkish in an academic setting.

In the situation in question, two 4th-year students come into an office to get
their academic adviser to sign their graduation certificate. However, the
adviser is not there and one of the students addresses a lecturer available to
say:

''It is OK if we get the signature from you too, right?''(Translation of the
Original Utterance in Turkish)

So, in terms of ''Degree of Directness concerning Request Strategies'', should
I categorize that request as ''Query Preparatory (permission)'' or ''Hint'' or
something else?

Regards,

Ugur
