We are delighted to announce the eighth edition of our International Summer
School in Affective Sciences (ISSAS 2018), which will take place on 5-13 July
2018 at the Château de Bossey, an 18th-century manor house located in an
outstanding natural environment overlooking Lake Geneva and the French Alps.

The summer school, organized by the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences,
addresses this year the topic “The development of emotions”. It constitutes an
exciting opportunity to address the theme in an interdisciplinary manner, with
contributions from leading scholars in psychology, neuroscience and the
humanities. Participants will include some of the world's leading experts in
emotion development and a selected group of highly motivated, promising PhD
students and postdocs working on such topics.

The scientific program comprises plenary lectures, discussions sessions,
workshops, and group work in which the students will design an
interdisciplinary research project that will be presented and discussed on the
last day.

The varied program and its hands-on orientation make ISSAS 2018 highly
attractive to young researchers from different disciplines. In addition, they
will enjoy an opportunity to form strong professional ties with each other, as
well as with the invited faculty members. They can use these contacts to build
a substantial scientific network even at an early stage in their careers.

The list of speakers includes:

(Warwick), Paul Harris (Harvard), Seth Pollak (Wisconsin-Madison) and Amrisha

Financial Aid: Applications accepted until 18-Feb-2018
For those with financial difficulties, a few (partial) fee waivers are available. The number and amount of awarded waivers will depend on the number of requests received, and they will be assigned on a case-by-case basis.

Financial Aid Instructions:
Waivers are applied for at the same time as applying for a place at the summer school. To request a waiver, you must provide evidence that you have already obtained/been denied funding from other institutions.

During the application for the summer school you will be asked to provide proof that you have already applied for funding from *two* other funding agencies: local (e.g., university) and national (e.g. national funding agency, foundations). Such proof can be provided in the form of a letter or an email from the funding institutions. It has to be indicated how much you have applied for/ been granted.

If no decision has been communicated yet, please indicate when you expect to hear from them. If you are accepted to ISSAS, you will need to forward their reply as soon as it arrives.

If for some reason you have not been able to apply for third-party funding, please make sure to justify your case very carefully.

Important: An evaluation of the objective efforts made by the applicant to secure funding to attend ISSAS will be considered a relevant variable in the evaluation procedure. Failure to provide adequate proof will result in no offer of a waiver.
