Meeting Description:

After the successful first edition in 2016, with over 80 speakers from 14
different countries, the symposium Jurilinguistics II: Interdisciplinary
Approaches to the Study of Language and Law, to be held in Seville (Spain) on
25-26 October 2018, aims to continue to bridge the gap between professionals
and researchers from legal and linguistic fields, both in an apparent lack of
mutual understanding. From several movements to simplify legal language to the
creation of programmes on Jurilinguistics, from legal discourse analysis to
the professionalisation of Court Interpreting, there are a number of examples
that show a recent reconciliation between these disciplines. The purpose of
this event is to consider the established relations and those still yet to be
built in both fields. It aims to offer, once again, a solid background into
the professionalisation in this hybrid area, as well as the setting of diverse
domains of study and/or research.

Keynote speakers:

Carmen Bestué (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain)
Jan Engberg (Aarhus University, Denmark)
Eva Pons (Universitat de Barcelona, Spain)
Lawrence Solan (Brooklyn Law School, USA)

Call for Papers:

Our symposium aims to become a meeting point for professionals and researchers

committee would like to receive proposals on the following relevant topics,

Legal Translation
