Below please find a brief description of the research and teaching activities
required.

Research:
The Associate Professor will carry out research within the Project of
Excellence “Digital Humanities applied to modern languages and literatures” of
the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, University of Verona,
Italy. The selected person is also expected to apply for national and
international research funding.
 
The candidate must have a proven track record of research on natural language
processing applied to digital humanities (especially languages and
literatures), material culture and digitization and preservation of cultural
heritage (such as digital archives). Expertise in digital methods for text
analysis, such as scholarly digital editing, text representation, text
analysis and text mining is required. 

The selected candidate is also expected to have research competence in data
modelling, data management, information retrieval and knowledge management.

Teaching:
The teaching activity of the Associate Professor will be carried out in BA and
MA courses within the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.

The selected person is also expected to arrange scientific initiatives and
courses on methods, technologies, as well as theoretical and practical aspects
of Digital Humanities in the new MA and BA curricula related to the project of
excellence (within L11 and LM37) and in the PhD Course in Foreign Literatures,
Languages and Linguistics.

In addition to the afore-mentioned areas, teaching areas will include
information science applied to Digital Humanities, as in image elaboration
(OCR, IIIF), content management systems and web design.

The selected person is expected to coordinate technicians in the departmental
project of excellence, with special reference to digital platforms.
