Tools and Methods for Corpus-Based Translation Science

Focus: The aim of the two-day workshop is to help beginners as well as advanced participants to acquire new competencies and consolidate and expand existing ones in the creation and implementation of corpus-based research designs in the field of translation science. The workshop primarily addresses doctoral and postdoctoral researchers and offers a space for learning, discussion and hands-on training.
Minimum Education Level: BA


Special Qualifications:
There are no formal eligibility criteria for participation in the workshop. Since places are limited, the admission of applicants will be based on their motivation to attend the workshop and to conduct corpus-based translation research.


Description:
The workshop comprises one keynote speech and three individual courses of
three 3.5 hours each. The courses build upon each other and cover the
following topics: 
- corpus compilation and annotation
- basics of qualitative and quantitative corpus analysis
- introduction to advanced corpus analysis: multivariate statistics.

The workshop is free of charge, but there is a limited number of places. The
workshop will be held at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, from 22 to 23
November, 2018.

Tuition Explanation: Participation in the workshop is free of charge and includes attendance at all
sessions, coffee breaks and dinner on day one. However, please note that the
organisers will not cover participants' travel or accommodation expenses and
that participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
