Job Title: Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Computational Linguistics
Job Rank: Asst/Assoc Professor

Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics

Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of North Texas seeks to fill a
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with a
primary specialization in computational linguistics. We seek candidates who
are active researchers in a core linguistics area that complements existing
departmental strengths (low-resource language documentation and resource
creation, second language acquisition, theoretical linguistics, computational
discourse and semantics, CL for low-resource languages, and corpus-based
research). In addition, the successful candidate will play an important role
in the continued development of our graduate and undergraduate programs in
computational linguistics. Evidence of an active research agenda, a promising
trajectory for grant acquisition, and a strong commitment to innovative
teaching is required for consideration.

The expected start date could be either Spring 2019 or Fall 2019. Review of
applications will begin immediately and will continue until the search is
closed.

The teaching load for tenure-track positions is typically four courses per
year, graduate and undergraduate levels. Additional responsibilities include
service on departmental and university committees and student
advising/supervision.

A PhD in Linguistics, Computer Science, Cognitive Science or a related field
with a strong background in computational linguistics/natural language
processing is required.
