Meeting Description:

The 2018 LingCor Workshop is organised within the framework of a research
project to produce the corpus “Parlars. Corpus Oral del Valencià Coloquial”
(‘Languages. Spoken Corpus of colloquial Valencian’), funded by the Valencian
Government (ref. GV/2017/094).

The first edition of the International Workshop on Spoken Corpus Linguistics
aims to be a forum for discussion among linguists working on a spoken corpus
methodology. The conference focuses on the construction of text corpora (data
collection, selection of informants, dialectal and sociolectal divisions,
labelling and annotation of the corpus) as well as on the exploitation and
corpus-based studies (phonetics, morphosyntax, semantics and pragmatics).
Although proposals including all theoretical approaches and all the topics
about oral corpus linguistics are accepted, the main topics are:

- Synchronous corpora of Catalan and of European minoritised languages
- Dialect corpora of romance languages and European languages
- Spoken corpora planning
- Spoken corpora data processing
- Studies on linguistic change and dialectal and functional variation from
spoken corpora
- Cognitive linguistics and spoken corpora
- Oral constructions and spoken corpora grammar
- Pragmatics and spoken corpora

Registration:

LingCor 2018 participation fee: 50€. Students or unemployed people have a
special 30€ fee and shall prove their situation at the moment of the
registration.

2nd Call for Papers:

The 2018 LingCor Workshop invites linguistics researchers on spoken corpora to
send proposals. Each author can submit a proposal as a single author and
another one as co-author.

The Workshop consists of plenary sessions with guest speakers, of oral
presentations (20 minutes long and with 10 minutes for discussion) and one
poster session. Your talk or poster proposals shall be submitted via EasyChair
(use this link to send your proposal:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=lingcor2018).

Proposals shall not exceed 600 words (excluding bibliography) and shall be
submitted in Times New Roman font size 12, with 1.5 spacing and with 2.5-cm
margin on all sides. Proposals shall be anonymous and, thus, cannot include
explicit references to the author(s) nor to unpublished works of the
author(s). 

Proposals can be submitted in English, Catalan or Spanish.

Important Dates:

- June 1, 2018: closing date to send proposals
- July 15, 2018: notification to authors
- September 15, 2018: publication of the final program
- December 13-14, 2018: workshop

Publication:

We intend to publish a special journal issue of selected papers from the
workshop. More details will be announced in due time.
