Linguistic Field(s): Cognitive Science; Psycholinguistics

Meeting Description:

We are hosting a workshop in honor of Michael K. Tanenhaus, who is receiving
the Rumelhart Prize at the Cognitive Science meeting.

The workshop includes invited talks (list of speakers is on our website:
https://sites.google.com/view/mtanfest2018/home) and multiple panel
discussions. We also have a discussion about communication of science to
audience beyond our research community, exploring ideas of disseminating
scientific insights to the general public with various interests and
backgrounds.

Our overarching goal is to have interactive, collaborative, conversations to
identify challenges and loci for breakthroughs in investigations of
contextually-situated language use.

We are not soliciting submissions for oral or poster presentations.
Participants are, however, encouraged to take part in panel discussions and
other venues in which we facilitate group discussions and brainstorming
sessions.

The website includes information about registration, hotels, invited speakers,
and panels. The workshop will receive support from the U.S. National Science
Foundation.

We are aiming for a broad range of participants and invite you to explore the
website to learn more about this unique event. We ask that you register soon
to facilitate planning, and recommend that you reserve your hotel soon (and
take note of the distance between the Cog Sci and workshop venues -- ~1 mile
or 1.6 km).
