Research Coordinator/Lab Manager (Human Research Technologist 2)
Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese

The Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese at the Pennsylvania State
University invites applications for a Research Coordinator/Lab Manager to work
under the direction of Dr. Giuli Dussias. The Department includes a highly
interactive group of faculty and students whose interests include
bilingualism, language processing, language acquisition in children and
adults, language contact, and language variation.

Responsibilities for this position include preparing materials for
experimentation for behavioral studies, eye tracking and electrophysiological
studies, programming experiments and testing research participants using each
of these methods, and performing statistical analyses using a range of
software applications. The successful candidate will also be responsible for
organizing the laboratory schedule, recruiting research participants,
developing appropriate databases, and managing the daily laboratory operation
(which include oversight of equipment maintenance, lab maintenance, equipment
orders, updating different websites, requesting updates for existing IRB
protocols, and submitting new IRB protocols). Skill and experience with
programs such as ELAN, E-prime, Ibex Farm, MATLAB, Praat, or Python is
desirable. Experience with R, eyetracking and/or ERP/EGG preferred. Experience
with Brain Vision software desirable. Training will be provided for the
conduct of research with human participants. Candidates should have strong
interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, the ability to manage
multiple projects simultaneously, and a strong curiosity and interest in
language science research and methods. Knowledge of and experience working
with Spanish is highly desirable.

We welcome applications from candidates with an MA degree or higher in any of
the disciplines that contribute to the study of experimental psycholinguistics
and the study of language more generally. Minimum qualifications typically
require an Associate’s Degree or equivalent plus two years of work related
experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
