Meeting Description:

NACAL is an annual gathering featuring the presentation and discussion of
original research on linguistic topics relevant to the languages of the
Afroasiatic phylum (Berber, Chadic, Cushitic, Egyptian, Omotic, and Semitic).
Topics related to all aspects of Afroasiatic languages, including phonology,
morphology, syntax, comparative linguistics, sociolinguistics, epigraphy, and
more are welcome.

We are also pleased to announce that the keynote speaker for NACAL 46 will be
Dr. Christopher Ehret, Distinguished Research Professor at UCLA. Dr. Ehret's
work includes historical-comparative reconstruction and classification of the
Afroasiatic phylum and other families across the African continent as well as
broader research on the history of Africa. His address is entitled:
''Expanding the Afroasiatic Reconstruction: Historical Linguistics in a
Deep-Time Language Family.''


Final Call for Papers:

NACAL 46: Final Call for Poster Abstract Submission Deadline extended to March
15, 2018

We have extended the deadline for poster submissions for the 46th annual
meeting of the North Atlantic Conference on Afroasiatic Linguistics (NACAL).
NACAL 46 will be held at California State University, Long Beach, CA, from
Friday, June 1 through Sunday, June 3, 2018. We will be accepting poster
submissions until the March 15, 2018 deadline. Authors will receive
notification of acceptance before March 30, 2018. Abstracts should be
submitted via Easy Chair. 

All abstracts should be submitted in English with glosses or translations for
words or examples in any other language. Each abstract, including the title
and any data in figures or tables, must not exceed 500 words, excluding
references. Authors are asked to remove all personal identification from the
abstract. Submissions should be identified as poster. Posters will be
presented in an open session on Saturday, June 2.
