Description:

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a full-time
tenure-track Assistant Professor of English with a concentration in Applied
Linguistics starting in the fall of 2018. The position entails a 3/3 teaching
load—possibly including first-year writing for multilingual writers—and has
commensurate research and service expectations. Summer and online teaching
opportunities may be available.

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a vibrant, Hispanic Serving Doctoral

has a heritage of teaching excellence, innovation in research, and community
engagement. It is part of the distinguished Texas A&M System. With palm
tree-lined pathways throughout the campus, nearby natural wetlands, a scenic
hike-and-bike trail, and a university beach, Texas A&M University-Corpus
Christi is the only university in the nation located on its own island at the
heart of the Texas Gulf Coast.

The English Department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers courses
in Literary Studies, Writing Studies, and Applied Linguistics. The
department’s tenure-line faculty members are involved at both the graduate and
undergraduate level. Our students and faculty take advantage of the
university’s location along the Gulf of Mexico and near the border to foster
learning, and they draw on Corpus Christi’s unique position in South Texas to
encourage research and community involvement.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates should have an active and successful research agenda specializing
in at least two of the following areas: second language acquisition, TESOL
methods, technology-based language learning/teaching, or an area of
sociolinguistic concern. A PhD is required at the time of appointment.

Preferred qualifications:

(1) a demonstrated commitment to teaching a broad range of applied linguistics
courses at the undergraduate level, (2) a clear interest in working at a
Hispanic Serving Institution, and (3) experience teaching language learners in
many settings.

1) directly addressing the job description, 
2)  explicitly presenting a teaching philosophy, and
3)  providing a research statement; 

(B) a curriculum vitae;
