Meeting Description:

The Language Education Institute at Seoul National University (Seoul, Korea)
will host a workshop on English linguistics and its application to English
learning and teaching, as part of the SNU Conference on International
Conference on Linguistics. The workshop will be held at Seoul National
University on June 15-16, 2018.

The keynote speaker for the workshop:
Heeju Hwang (University of Hong Kong)


2nd Call for Papers:

The primary goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and
teaching professionals all over the world to share their latest research
findings and applications to the field of English linguistics or English
learning and teaching. Through exploring and exchanging ideas among
contributors, this workshop aims to present research state of the art in
updated theories, advanced analysis, and teaching insights that connect the
empirical language research to the practical. This workshop also proposes to
provide the interdisciplinary platform for the presentation of new advances
and research results in the fields of English linguistics and English language
teaching and learning. Specific topics for the workshop may include, but not
be limited to the following: 

English Linguistics:

- Phonetics and phonology
- Morphology and syntax 
- Semantics and pragmatics
- Psycholinguistics 
- Cognitive linguistics 
- Corpus linguistics 
- Computational linguistics
- Sociolinguistics
- Discourse analyses

English Language Teaching and Learning:

- Language acquisition and learning
- Language curriculum development
- Language teaching methodology
- Language testing and assessment
- Language program evaluation
- Language teacher education
- Intercultural education
- TESOL / TESL / TEFL 
- English for specific purposes (ESP) and English for academic purposes (EAP)
- Innovation in language teaching and learning (e.g., Data-driven learning)

Information about Abstract Submissions:

Abstracts touching on any of the above-listed (or related) topics are welcome.
Each paper talk will be assigned 25 minutes for presentation plus 10 minutes
for discussion (and up to 12 slots will be available). Abstracts must be
anonymous, no longer than 2 pages (A4 or letter), in a 12pt font, and with
margins of 1 inch/2.5 cm on all sides. Only abstracts in PDF format will be
accepted. 

We are also soliciting submissions for poster talks, which consist of
10-minute talk followed by 5-minute discussion (around 10 slots). You can
submit your abstract electronically to the following address: sicl-el at daum.net
together with a separate page including corresponding author details such as
the title of the abstract, name, affiliation, and contact email address. And
please notify us whether you'd still want to present your paper if accepted as
a poster talk.
