Special Issue ''Metaphor and Gender''
The peer-reviewed journal Metaphorik.de (open access, print version published
by Wehrhahn) will dedicate its 30th issue, set to be published at the
beginning of 2019, to taking a closer interdisciplinary look at the role of
metaphor and metonymy in gender discourse.

Articles from linguistics as well as social and media sciences are welcome for
the special issue ''Metaphor and Gender''.

Various theoretical, methodological and empirical angles can serve as starting
points for approaching issues such as traditional and modern gender roles and
the (clichéd) ways in which they take form in language. Contributions
examining the metaphorization or metonymization of the diversity concept are
just as suitable as those studying how images express the relationship among
power, bodies, violence and gender in literature, media or everyday discourse.
You are free to delve into topics such as homosexual marriage, gender
construction in sports or the aestheticization of images of male and female
bodies in advertising. Equally welcome are topics such as the so-called
natural attribution of certain gender roles in professional or daily life -
metaphorically speaking, for instance. We would prefer that articles tie into
the theory of metaphor, providing new insights by incorporating and reflecting
on feminist, post-feminist and masculinity theories.

Should you be interested in contributing, please submit your abstract via
email to info at metaphorik.de by 30 April 2018. If the editors and editorial
board accept your submission, the deadline for invited articles is 30
September 2018. Articles can be published in German, English, French, Italian,
Portuguese or Spanish.

Timeline:
30/04/2018: deadline abstract submission
10/05/2018: Feedback on article acceptance
30/09/2018: deadline article submission
30/11/2018: Review process
15/02/2019: Publication of the special issue
