Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s

Lund University invites applications for a position as Professor of Phonetics
based until further notice at the Centre for Languages and Literature.

At the department, phonetics as a research subject currently comprises
research in a wide range of areas. Some of this research is conducted in
collaboration with research teams in linguistics and staff within the existing
research infrastructure at the Humanities Lab. The available infrastructure
(at the Humanities Lab) accommodates two Electromagnetic
Articulography-systems, EEG, Eye-tracking-systems, Motion Capture-systems, a
LARM-studio and Swe-Clarin among others. Research collaboration also takes
place with units at other Lund University faculties that offer MR imaging. In
addition, the research activities are linked to other universities within and
outside Sweden.

The professor of phonetics will be expected to take a leading role in research
and third-cycle education in phonetics by developing already established
research environments and research infrastructures. In addition, the professor
will be expected to apply for external research grants and to represent the
subject of phonetics nationally and internationally. Furthermore, the
professor will be expected to supervise doctoral students and teach phonetics
but also other subjects at SOL in the first and second cycles.

The appointment of a professor shall be based on the following assessment
criteria:
- Very good national and international standing as a researcher. The
international qualifications requirement is to be assessed in relation to the
nature and tradition of the subject specialisation.
- Very good teaching expertise, which means a good ability to conduct, develop
and a lead teaching and other educational activities at different levels of
study and using different teaching methods.
- Good ability to supervise doctoral student up to the attainment of a PhD.
- Good ability to engage in wider society and inform others of his or her
activities
- Good ability to lead and develop the department’s activities in general.

As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching skills as to
the assessment of research skills.
