Meeting Description:

China is now recognized as one of the world's superpowers, with the second
largest economy. In 2014, Xi Jinping the Chairman of the Republic of the
People’s Republic of China, said, “We (the Chinese) should increase China’s
soft power, give a good Chinese narrative, and better communicate China’s
message to the world”. This led to the birth of the, One Belt One Road
Initiative (better known as the OBOR initiative), a significant initiative
that requires better understanding from the various stakeholders. The aim of
this conference is therefore to provide a platform for researchers, business
people, government organizations and other institutions to debate and
deliberate on the initiative in Africa on topics including, but not limited
to:

- Sino-Africa Relations and the OBOR initiative
- The impact of the OBOR initiative on the development of Africa
- Sino-Africa human resources and natural resources exchange
- The role of Confucius institutes in the OBOR initiative
- Teaching and learning of Chinese in Africa
- African Philosophy and culture within the OBOR initiative
- Sino-Africa professional development and training within the OBOR initiative
- Local African languages versus Chinese: invasion or coalition?
- Research and practice on teaching Chinese Culture in Africa

Call for Papers:

Please submit your abstract through email before the May 31, 2018 to:
oborsinoafricaconf at gmail.com with subject: Your name + Nationality + Title of
your paper

Abstracts should be between 150-300 words in Microsoft Word format in Chinese
or English. All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously. Notification of
acceptance will be sent out by May 31, 2018.
