Meeting Description:

The purpose of this conference is to bring together practitioners and applied
linguists to discuss practical ways of how language learning theory can be put
into action at the point of language instruction for adult language learners
in institutional settings. 

Invited speakers include Dr. Emily Clark and Dr. Jeffrey Reeder. 

Conference registration is $50.00 (fee waived for graduate students presenting
papers).


Appel à communications :

La meta de esta conferencia es reunir a los docentes que están enseñando el
español para compartir sus técnicas e ideas prácticas en la enseñanza de un
segundo idioma.

De preferencia se aceptan propuestas sobre la enseñanza dirigida hacia
estudiantes de nivel universitario y secundario, y de carácter práctico (es
decir, no teórico).

Ejemplos de Temas:

Enseñanza contextualizada - El uso del libro de texto - Hablantes de herencia
- Cómo identificar las necesidades de los estudiantes - Actividades “brecha de
información” - Motivación - Como capacitar a los alumnos a ser buenos
aprendices (prevenir el ‘complejo de Atlas’) - Retroalimentación
positiva/constructiva/negativa - Planificación y estructura de las clases,
como ‘fluye’ - Evaluación efectiva y productiva - Actividades
extracurriculares (ej. Periódicos estudiantiles, ferias, artesanía, cultura,
radio, etc.) - U otros temas relacionados con la meta de la conferencia

The conference format may include paper presentations, panel discussions,
teaching demonstrations, and/or poster presentations; please indicate your
preference(s). Every effort will be made to respect your preference, however,
final decision on format will be the determination of the conference
committee.

Conference registration fees are waived for students enrolled in programs
leading to a graduate degree at any institution of higher learning.
