Description:

We are pleased to announce the opening of a call for 10 fellowships in our
international PhD Programme in Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CIMeC), starting
in November 2018 at the University of Trento (UNITN), Italy. The PhD call is
open to several fields of cognitive neuroscience research, which include
computational linguistics.

CIMeC's Language, Interaction and Computation Lab offers expertise in
computational semantics (including both formal and distributional approaches),
in the integration of language and vision modalities, and in the simulation of
conceptual acquisition. A short description of the lab can be found here:
http://www.cimec.unitn.it/en/71/language-interaction-and-computation-laborator
y-clic.

This year, we are particularly encouraging applications around topics related
to:
- fast-mapping in language (learning conceptual representations from very
small data);
- the integration of formal and distributional approaches in meaning
representations;
- more specifically, the representation of entities in distributional
semantics.

Interested candidates in the language track should contact Aurelie Herbelot
(aurelie.herbelot at unitn.it) for any enquiry.

More information about the lab can also be found on the following pages:

More generally, this year's research topics proposed by the Doctoral Programme
Committee for 5 UNITN grants can be found here:

grants' details can be found here:
