Meeting Description:

FAMLi (Form and Analysis in Mayan Linguistics) aims to bring together native
speakers of Mayan languages and researchers from around the world to share
research on all aspects of Mayan languages including but not limited to
phonetics/phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics/pragmatics, typology,
historical linguistics, linguistic anthropology, acquisition, and
psycholinguistics. FAMLi encourages participation from researchers working in
any linguistic framework, and with any level of formal linguistic background,
to present description and analysis of Mayan languages.

FAMLi 5 is set to take place in Antigua, Guatemala at Cooperación Española and
funded by in part by generous support from the Language Science Center at UMD.

2nd Call for Papers:

We invite abstracts for presentations (20 min + 10 min for questions) or
posters for the fifth edition of Form and Analysis in Mayan Linguistics (FAMLi
5), to be held in Antigua, Guatemala from August 10-11, 2018 (conference venue
TBA soon). The aim of FAMLi is to bring together linguists to present work on
contemporary Mayan languages and tackle new and outstanding puzzles in the
field. FAMLi encourages participation from researchers working in any
linguistic framework to present data and analyses of Mayan languages.

Presentations and posters should present an analysis in any subfield of Mayan
linguistics: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics,
historical linguistics, language acquisition, linguistic anthropology,
psycholinguistics and experimental studies are all welcome. Presentations and
posters can be in either Spanish or English. We also encourage the
participation of native speaker scholars and students of any of the Mayan
languages.

Abstracts should be a maximum of 500 words (English or Spanish) on one page
with one inch margins, in Times New Roman, 12 pt., single spaced including
references and data. Abstracts should be submitted as a PDF file to EasyChair
(https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=famli5) by 20-May-2018.
