Meeting Description:

Following previous Neo-Aramaic conferences in Cambridge, Jerusalem and Warsaw,
the international conference ''Neo-Aramaic Languages across Space and Time''
will take place at Uppsala University from 5 to 7 October, 2018. The event is
organized by the Semitic Section of the Department of Linguistics and
Philology.

The conference serves as a forum of scientific exchange for scholars working
on any aspects of the Neo-Aramaic languages (North-Eastern Neo-Aramaic,
Ṭuroyo/Ṣurayt, Western Neo-Aramaic and Neo-Mandaic), including their contact
with neighboring languages. 

The following invited scholars have expressed their intention to present:

- Hezy Mutzafi (Tel Aviv)
- Lidia Napiorkowska (Warsaw)
- Estiphan Panoussi, Shabo Talay (Berlin)

Call for Papers:

We welcome abstract submissions for 20-minute oral presentations followed by
10 minutes for discussion. If necessary, some presentations may be allocated
to a poster session. Contributions to any aspect of Neo-Aramaic studies are
welcome.

Funding has been applied for and, if received, scholarships will be given to
those submitting the best abstracts, to cover their accommodation and, if
possible, travel costs.

Abstract Format:  

Abstracts should present original research that has not been published.
Abstracts must be in English and up to 1 page long (not counting references).
They should give the title of the paper and summarize its main points, giving
examples and references where appropriate. Examples of well-written abstracts
may be found, e.g., at http://sle2016.eu/downloads/BoA_v7.pdf.

Abstract Submission: 

The deadline for abstract submission is 22 June, 2018. Authors will be
notified by the end of July.
Abstracts, including title of paper, should be sent both as a pdf and
Word/text document to the following email address: neoaramaic at lingfil.uu.se.
In the body of the email, please include the following information: title of
paper, your name, affiliation, address and e-mail address.

- Deadline for abstract submission: 22 June 2018
- Notification to authors: 31 July 2018 
- Conference date: 5–7 October 2018
