Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics

The Linguistics Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the
State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a one year
term Visiting Assistant Professor position.

Description of Responsibilities:
The Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics will be expected to develop
and teach undergraduate courses that support the core mission of the
Linguistics Program, including preparing teachers of English to speakers of
other languages, and those who wish to pursue speech and speech pathology as a
career. The required and elective courses in the linguistics major include
Introduction to Linguistics, Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax,
Semantics, Theories of Linguistic Analysis and our capstone course.

The VAP will be expected to assist with the administration of the Program,
including advising linguistic majors and minors, serving on committees and
participating as appropriate in recruitment and assessment activities.

In addition, will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for
excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate and/or
graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills
sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students
and colleagues.

Required Qualifications: 
PhD or ABD in linguistics or applied linguistics and a strong commitment to
excellence in teaching and research.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Teaching experience in the field, research profile. Ability and willingness to
teach courses in the major from allied departments if needed.
