Description:

Reed College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor
position in Linguistics, with a focus in Sociolinguistics, for the 2019-20
academic year, to commence in August 2019.

Reed is a selective undergraduate liberal arts institution with a commitment
to teaching excellence and scholarship. The successful candidate will join a
small but comprehensive undergraduate linguistics department and offer five
semester courses: two sections of our spring introductory course (Introduction
to Language, Culture and Society) along with three upper-division courses in
Sociolinguistics. The candidate will also supervise year-long senior thesis
projects on an array of topics within linguistics.

Candidates with expertise in quantitative methods, social theory, and
understudied or minority languages or language varieties are particularly
encouraged to apply. Teaching experience and experience advising student
research projects are also highly desirable. PhD or ABD in Linguistics
required for appointment.
