Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African
Languages at Michigan State University will make a tenure-track appointment in
phonetics at the Assistant Professor level, to begin on August 16, 2019. The
successful candidate must have a PhD in Linguistics by the time of the
appointment, college-level teaching experience and native or near native
English language proficiency. The candidate should have a record of high
quality research in experimental linguistic phonetics in the form of
publications or presentations, and demonstrate a promising trajectory of
scholarly engagement.

Special consideration will be given to candidates whose research and scholarly
interests complement and connect with those of our current faculty. Applicants
whose research engages in laboratory phonology, cognitive science, or
fieldwork are particularly encouraged. Ability to teach experimental methods,
statistics, or introduction to cognitive science is desirable.Review of
