Description:

For a project at an international search engine company, we are looking for a
Linguist (m/f/*) for African English Variants 

Your responsibilities:
As a Linguist, you will be annotating and evaluating linguistic data in
language variants including but not limited to Nigerian and Ghanaian English.
You will also contribute to a number of other tasks dealing with natural
language processing.

These tasks include:
- Annotating and reviewing linguistic data
- Labeling text with semantic, syntactic and morphological features
- Annotating lexicon entries according to guidelines
- Evaluating current system outputs
- Deriving NLP data for new and on-going projects
- Creating guidelines for semantic, syntactic and morphological projects
- Providing expertise on pronunciation and phonotactics 
- Consulting with researchers and engineers on the development of linguistic
databases
- Monitoring and controlling quality of data annotated by the team

Your profile:
- Native-level speaker of a West African English variant, or native-level
speaker of at least one West African language and fluent in English 
- Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics
- Experience in annotation work
- Knowledge of semantics, syntax, morphology and/or lexicography 
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts; learn in-house tools
- Keen interest in technology and computer-literate
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- You have a valid work permit for Germany
