Description:

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Florida,
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full time,
nine-month, tenure-track position in Hispanic Linguistics with a primary
specialization in syntax (theoretical approach open), at the level of
Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2019. We seek candidates who can
teach Structure of Spanish at the undergraduate and graduate levels and have a
strong research agenda that makes connections to any of the existing
department strengths, including Spanish heritage language, bilingualism, SLA,
historical linguistics, and experimental and corpus-based approaches. Salary
is competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes
a full benefits package.

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies is committed to creating an

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics or related field at the beginning of the
appointment
- Expertise in Spanish syntax
- Native or near-native command of Spanish

Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching
- Evidence of commitment to equitable and inclusive practices
- Expertise that complements departmental strengths in bilingualism, SLA,
experimental, corpus, and historical linguistics
- Teaching experience in Spanish syntax at the college level
