The Department of Writing and Linguistics in the College of Arts and
Humanities invites applications and nominations for the position of Lecturer
of Linguistics and English as a Second Language (ESL). This position is
located on the Statesboro campus, but may require teaching on the other
campuses.

Position Description. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Writing and
Linguistics, the Lecturer of Linguistics and ESL will provide teaching (both
online and face-to-face classes) and service. The ideal candidate will help
strengthen the ESL program and develop the undergraduate interdisciplinary
concentration in Applied Linguistics and the online graduate certificate in
TESOL/Applied Linguistics, in addition to providing support for other
Department programs and activities (which may include First-Year Writing). The
position is a ten-month lecturer appointment teaching four courses per term
(eight courses per year), and the salary is competitive and commensurate with
qualifications and experience. Summer teaching is available but not
guaranteed.

Required Qualifications:
- Earned master’s (or higher) degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a
closely related area, by August 1, 2019
- At least three years of full-time or equivalent teaching experience in an
intensive English or academic English preparation program in a college or
university setting where English is the language of instruction
- Extensive experience in ESL program administration and/or development
- Experience in English placement test and ESL program assessment
- Record of on-going professional development
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of
employment without assistance from the institution.

Screening of applications begins November 4, 2018, and continues until the
position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2019.
