Description:

Carleton University's School of Linguistics and Language Studies invites
applications for a tenure-track position in Linguistics with a specialization
in First Language Acquisition at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing
July 1, 2019.

The School's Linguistics program is housed in a unit representing a rich
diversity of perspectives on language, with degree programs in Linguistics and
Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies. Detailed information can be found at

Qualifications:
By July 1, 2019, applicants must have in hand a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a
related field of research, such as Cognitive Science or Psychology, with a
primary specialization in First Language Acquisition. We are interested in
applications from candidates whose research includes one or more of
experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches.

Applicants must also have a well-defined research agenda, an active research
profile with a strong commitment to the dissemination of scholarship through
publication, and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a culturally-diverse
student body in our undergraduate and graduate programs, to provide graduate
supervision at the MA and Ph.D. levels, to develop a program of research
leading to significant peer-reviewed publications, and to contribute
effectively to academic life in the School of Linguistics and Language
Studies.

subject line of your application. Applications should include a cover letter,
curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, and copies of
representative publications. Three letters of reference should also be sent to
the attention of Jaffer Sheyholislami.

The closing date for receipt of applications, including the letters of
reference, is November 30, 2018.
