Meeting Description:

The Linguistics Society of New Zealand is pleased to announce the 2018
Language & Society Conference. The Linguistics Society of NZ holds annual
conferences, and this year's conference will be hosted at Victoria University
of Wellington in New Zealand's capital city of Wellington.

Dates:
15-16 November 2018           
(Pre-conference workshops 14 November 2018)

Plenary speakers:
Prof Jen Hay (University of Canterbury)
Dr. Sophie Tauwehe Tamati (The University of Auckland)


2nd Call for Papers:

Deadline extended to 21 September 2018!

Abstracts are invited for presentations in all areas of linguistics (including
sociolinguistics/language and society), and from any region or language of the
world. All sessions will be 30 minutes long, with 20 minutes for presentation.

Please submit abstracts by email no later than 21 September 2018 to
nzlingsoc at gmail.com

In the body of the email, include:

- title of the paper
- name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s)
- indication of which author(s) will present the paper
- name of contact author, with email address, postal address and phone number

Attach to the email a separate Word or PDF document containing the title and
abstract of the paper (but no identification of authorship). Abstracts should
be no more than 250 words long.

Acceptance of abstracts will be notified on a rolling basis. Please indicate
if you need a fast turn-around for funding purposes.

Presentations from postgraduate students are welcome.

Please note that you need to be a paid up member of the Linguistic Society of
New Zealand to attend the conference. To join the society or check your
