Description:

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Liberal
Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites applications for three
(3) teaching-stream (alternate stream) tenure-track positions in English as a
Second Language (ESL) at the rank of Assistant Lecturer, to commence July 1,
2019. The successful candidates will be expected to teach and develop
undergraduate courses, participate actively in ESL program development and
co-ordination, teach in the TESOL Certificate Program, and participate in
envisioning new directions for ESL at York.

A PhD in TESL, Second Language Education, Applied Linguistics or in a related
discipline, and a college or university administered TESL/TEFL
diploma/certificate or the equivalent is required; and the successful
candidates should be eligible for teacher accreditation by TESL Ontario.

The successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching
content-based credit ESL/EAP in post-secondary institutions.  Preference will
be given to those with experience teaching ESL teacher preparation courses as
well as coordinating language programs. Pedagogical innovation in high
priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced teaching
and learning is preferred, as is experience with curriculum development and
online/blended language teaching and learning. The successful candidates are
also expected to provide evidence of service or potential to contribute to
service in administrative and committee work.
