Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia invites
applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in
sociolinguistics, with a focus on language variation and experience with
quantitative research methods and fieldwork. The successful candidate will
have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research and
should be able to teach introductory courses in sociolinguistics, as well as
specialized courses in one or more sociolinguistic subfields at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels. We are particularly interested in
candidates with the ability to teach courses on African American English
and/or a general introductory course in quantitative methods, as well as those
with a secondary specialization in phonetics/phonology or syntax and the
ability to teach introductory courses in one of these areas. 

The appointment will begin on August 1, 2019. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in
hand at the time of appointment.
