Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
invites applications for a tenure-track position in Applied Linguistics at the
Assistant Professor level. The ideal candidate will have significant
training/experience in one or more of the following key areas of applied
linguistics: second language acquisition research, quantitative research
methods, psycholinguistics, and applications to language pedagogy, for example
task-based language teaching. We are especially interested in candidates who
can augment and complement the existing strengths in applied linguistics at
Georgetown University and who have a strong record of research and/or promise
of continued scholarly productivity. The successful candidate will contribute
to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research,
teaching, and service and will be committed to teaching graduate and
undergraduate courses in applied linguistics topics within the area(s) of
expertise. 

Rank: 
Assistant (tenure-track). 

Salary: 
Commensurate with qualifications and experience; full-time academic year
(9-month) salary; excellent benefits. 

Basic Qualifications: 
Ph.D. degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Research, or
related field. Degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
Demonstrated record of research and teaching in linguistics or languages. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
- Scholarly productivity as demonstrated by publications in the field of
applied linguistics.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching applied linguistics at the university
level. 
- Experience in mentoring doctoral students. 

Position Available: Appointment begins August 1, 2019.
