Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Religious Studies, University of
Saskatchewan, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank
of Assistant Professor in the area of General and Applied Linguistics with a
primary specialization in Indigenous languages of the Americas, language
revitalization and documentation commencing July 1, 2019.  

The successful candidate must have a PhD or expected date of defense in 2019
(at the time of the appointment) in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics with
demonstrated research and teaching experience related to Indigenous language
revitalization, description, and documentation or archiving. Indigenous
community engagement with a research focus on an Indigenous language are also
required. Fluency in an Indigenous language of the Americas would be an asset.
The candidate must also demonstrate excellence in teaching and a record of
peer-reviewed academic publications. 

Responsibilities:
The prospective candidate is expected to contribute to the growth of a vibrant
and successful Linguistics department at the University of Saskatchewan by
participating in course and program development with an Indigenous focus.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
Linguistics, performing administrative service, maintaining an active research
agenda, engaging in public service, attracting and supervising graduate
students, and applying for external funding.

Terms of appointment:
The appointment will be in the Department of Linguistics and Religious
Studies, currently under transformation to be the Department of Linguistics by
the time of appointment.

Salary bands: 
Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to
$130,925; Full Professor: $130,925 to $152,877. Appointment is expected to be
at the Assistant Professor rank.
