Meeting Description:

The Departments of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Madison invite submissions
for papers to be presented at the 7th Lusophone and Hispanic Linguistics
Symposium to take place at UW-Milwaukee on November 8-9, 2019.

We are proud to announce the participation of the following keynote speakers:
Dr. Javier Rivas (University of Colorado, Boulder)
Dr. Sonia Barnes (Marquette University)


Call for Papers:

Submissions for the main session from graduate students and other scholars are
welcome in any descriptive, social, applied or theoretical approach to
linguistics, from a synchronic or diachronic perspective. Papers on topics in
Spanish, Portuguese, and/or the languages they are in contact with should not
exceed 20 minutes. The languages of the symposium are Portuguese, Galician,
Spanish, and English.

Abstracts should be at most one page, with one-inch margins and 12-point font.
A second page may be included for references and/or data. Abstracts should be
sent to reidoval at uwm.edu.

The deadline for submission is 12 p.m. CST on August 18, 2019. You will be
notified of the status of your submission by early September.
