NEIU's Department of World Languages and Cultures invites participants to the 2019 Summer School of Kurdish Language and Culture. The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)-funded Summer School
offers the following courses:

Beginning Kurdish (Kurmanji) - 3 credits
Intermediate Kurdish (Kurmanji) - 3 credits
Kurdish Culture - 3 credits
Kurdish Teacher Training Workshop

NEIU students, students from other institutions, and community members are all eligible to apply. Program participants will earn 3-6 transferable NEIU credits and will have access to university libraries and other amenities. On-campus housing is available.

Summer School of Kurdish Language and Culture 
at Northeastern Illinois University
July 8 - August 2, 2019

NEIU's Department of World Languages and Cultures invites participants to the
2019 Summer School of Kurdish Language and Culture. The National Endowment for
Humanities (NEH) funded Summer School offers instruction in Beginning and
Intermediate Kurmanji Kurdish and a separate Kurdish Culture class. The
proficiency-based language courses consist of 12 contact hours per week of
four-skills instruction using authentic materials and media in a small-group,
intensive setting. Additional language tables and cultural activities will be
provided, including structured interactions with native speakers. The culture
class, which can be taken separately or in combination with a language class,
will include 12 contact hours a week of lectures, discussions, and cultural
activities intended to familiarize students with the broad outlines of Kurdish
history, literature, cultural practices, and religious diversity. 

NEIU students, students from other institutions, and community members are all
