Description:

Position Title: Hebrew Language Teacher – K-8
FLSA Classification: Full time, exempt position
Term of Position: Job begins mid-August 2019
Reports To: Director of Jewish Learning
Position Purpose: Teaches Modern Hebrew Language

The Brandeis School of San Francisco inspires students to lead lives of
learning and purpose. We provide a challenging academic environment and a
welcoming and inclusive community, each deeply enriched by Jewish thoughts,
values, and traditions. We are seeking an outstanding Hebrew language teacher
for our students. This position is for the 2019–2020 school year, beginning in
mid-August.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials
and methods of instruction, to help students develop proficiency in the four
language acquisition skills
- Plan and teach a challenging course of study in a
developmentally-appropriate manner, with an emphasis on differentiating
instruction and using assessments effectively
- Create an inclusive classroom environment through regular class meetings,
supportive exchanges with students, and clear expectations for community
behavior
- Collaborate with colleagues, supervisor and specialists to develop
curriculum and optimize student learning
- Work and communicate effectively with parents in formal and informal
conferences, written reports, and newsletters
- Support and follow the school policies and procedures
- Be a positive and contributing member of the professional community

Position Qualifications:
- B.A. degree and teaching credential, or advanced degree, training in Hebrew
language instruction
- Prior experience teaching one or more of the following curricula – Bishvil
Ha’Ivrit (formerly NETA), Ulpan Or, Tal-Am, Chaverim B’Ivrit,
- Demonstrated experience with Hebrew language proficiency approach
Minimum three years’ experience as a Hebrew language teacher in a day school
setting

Physical Qualifications:
- Regularly sit, talk, run, move equipment, hear, and visually interact with
students
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
- Regularly use close and distance vision
- Work at a desk and computer screen
- Turn, bend, reach, and occasionally use a ladder
- Work in a traditional climate controlled office environment and outside in
both hot and cold climates

Compensation:
The school offers competitive compensation based on prior experience and
position requirements. Medical, dental, disability and retirement benefits are
provided for eligible full-time employees.
