Full Title: Second Annual Meeting of the North American Research Network in Historical Sociolinguistics
Short Title: NARNiHS 2020

Date: 04-Jan-2020 - 04-Jan-2020
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
Contact Person: Mark Richard Lauersdorf
Meeting Email: NARNiHistSoc at gmail.com
Web Site: http://narnihs.org

Linguistic Field(s): Historical Linguistics; Sociolinguistics; Text/Corpus Linguistics

Call Deadline: 16-Aug-2019

Meeting Description:

NARNiHS welcomes research in all areas of historical sociolinguistics, which
is understood as the application/development of sociolinguistic theories,
models, and methods for the study of historical language variation and change
over time, or more broadly, the study of the interaction of language and
society in historical periods and from historical perspectives. Thus, a wide
range of linguistic areas, subdisciplines, and methodologies easily find their
place within the field, and we encourage submission of abstracts that reflect
this broad scope.

2nd Call for Papers:

-- Extended Deadline & Student Funding opportunities! --

2nd Annual Meeting of the North American Research Network in Historical
Sociolinguistics (NARNiHS).

Thanks to generous funding from the ''Historical Sociolinguistics Research and
Training Program'' sponsored by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the
Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen (FWO), we are able to offer
a limited number of stipends to cover conference registration and partial
travel costs for *student* presentations at the NARNiHS 2nd Annual Meeting.
Both European- and North-American-based students will be eligible to apply for
this competitive funding after their abstracts have been accepted for the
meeting.

In light of this new development, and to encourage all interested scholars to
send us their best work for the NARNiHS 2nd Annual Meeting, we are extending
the deadline for submission of abstracts to:

Friday, 16 August 2019, 11:59 PM US Eastern Time

Please see the original call for abstracts here:
http://narnihs.org/?page_id=893
...and send us your latest work in historical sociolinguistics!
