Meeting Description:

Conference for English teaching professionals, researchers and materials
writers, offered annually by the Spanish Association of English teachers
TESOL-SPAIN. Over 100 presentations and workshops covering a wide variety of
fields. Publication of Selected Papers.

The 2020 convention theme Breaking barriers: make it happen, make it matter!
invites us to reflect on the powerful forces that contribute to modern life,
including the emergence of Artificial Intelligence with its unforeseeable
impact on our lives. Students must be prepared for the demands of this ''brave
new world'' by learning useful and relevant knowledge, skills, character
qualities and learning strategies. However, we face many challenges as
educators and the barriers to education are still many and varied and the
perceived vulnerability of certain social groups requires timely
solutions.

Reaffirming the right to education of every individual, enshrined in the 1948
Declaration of Human Rights and renewing the commitment of the World
Conference on Special Needs Education held in Salamanca in 1994,TESOL-SPAIN
welcomes presentations which deal with creativity and innovation, critical
thinking and problem solving, multiculturalism, special educational needs and
inclusive practices as well as those which are of wide general interest for
language teachers working in different sectors and with students of all ages.

Call for Papers:

The convention offers participants a wide range of presentations by national
and international speakers. Our confirmed plenary speakers for 2020 are Dr.
Judit Kormos (PhD, SFHEA, National Teaching Fellow, Professor of Second
Language Acquisition, Director of Research, Department of Linguistics and
English Language Lancaster University), Dr. Sarah Mercer (Head of ELT at the
University of Graz Deputy Head of the Centre for Teaching and Learning,
Director of the Doctorate Programme for language teaching research), Dr.
Daniel Xerri (Lecturer Centre for English Language Proficiency, University of
Malta, Ph.D. in Education, University of York) and Lindsay Clandfield
(award-winning writer and international speaker in the field of English
language teaching).

The conference is attended by a wide variety of EFL professionals: teachers
from infant, primary and secondary schools, EOIs, universities, technical
schools and academies as well as teacher trainers, materials writers, and
course planners, who will undoubtedly benefit from the expertise of
specialists in the field of inclusive practices and special educational needs.
Publishers, ELT researchers, members of exam boards, and national and
international authors also take part in the convention.
