Call Deadline: 06-Jan-2020

Meeting Description:

The 87th Southeastern Conference on Linguistics (SECOL) will be held in
Oxford, Mississippi at the Inn at Ole Miss, March 26-28, 2020. The theme is
''Envisioning Linguistics: SECOL in 2020.''

SECOL, founded 1969, is the oldest regional linguistic association in the
United States. As we carry our field into the coming decade, what innovative
connections will we champion? What established areas of research need our
continued focus? We invite papers from all subdisciplines as we envision
Linguistics in 2020.

Call for Papers:

We invite abstracts of up to 500 words, excluding title and references, for 20
minute presentations. We also invite 90-minute panels, with a main panel
abstract of 500 words along with 300-word individual paper abstracts. A
special 120-minute panel about American English in Appalachia will honor Dr.
Michael Montgomery. Please indicate in your title that you want to submit for
the special Montgomery panel. Authors may submit up to two abstracts, one
individual and one joint. Abstracts will be subjected to double-blind review,
so author names should not appear anywhere on abstracts.

Abstract submission opens September 29, 2019. Electronic submission of
abstracts (.pdf or Word document) will be managed through Easy Abstracts:
http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/SECOL2020

All submissions must be received by 11:59pm (EST) on January 6, 2020.

Questions may be addressed to the local host: mailto:fcoles at olemiss.edu.
