Description:

Position and project:
This full-time postdoc position is part of the project ‘Pragmatics meets
epistemic vigilance: Explaining the development of irony comprehension’ funded
by an SNSF Eccellenza Grant (Principal investigator: Diana Mazzarella, UniNE –
Collaborator: Nausicaa Pouscoulous, UCL). The project aims to investigate
experimentally the cognitive foundations of irony understanding. 

Candidate profile:
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in pragmatics, developmental
psychology or an allied interdisciplinary area and be familiar with
experimental research and data analysis. Experience in developmental research
will be a strong asset. 

Additional requirements:
- Have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment
- Have proven research experience and an active research agenda
- Have a fluent command of English (knowledge of French is a plus)

The candidate is expected to take an active role in designing, organizing and
conducting experiments, to disseminate the results of the project (conference
presentations and scientific publications) and to help supervising junior
researchers. The candidate will be based at the Cognitive Science Center of
the University of Neuchâtel. Regular participation in collective scientific
activities (e.g. seminars, reading groups, and lab meetings) will be expected.

Starting date: upon agreement (no later than September 2020)

Duration: 3 years

Salary: Gross salary in CHF:
First-year SNSF Post-doc: Yearly - 88'688.60; Monthly - 6'822.20
Second-year SNSF Post-doc: Yearly - 91'074.10; Monthly - 7'005.70
Third-year SNSF Post-doc: Yearly - 93'459.60; Monthly - 7'189.20
